Art Monthly – essential reading every month for more than 30 years.
Nicholas Serota, Director, Tate

Art Monthly is a testing ground for new thinking and has a highly engaged readership; as such, it has been a key place for us to advertise over many years.
Adrian Hunt, Head of Communications, John Hansard Gallery, University of Southampton.

Since its foundation in 1976, Art Monthly has been at the forefront of debates about contemporary art. In its very first issue the artist Carl Andre took on his critics over the ‘Bricks at the Tate’ controversy, while 20 years later in the magazine the term ‘YBA’ appeared for the first time in print. Many emerging and mid-career artists featured in Art Monthly have gone on to receive wider professional recognition – winning the Turner Prize, participating in the British Art Show and representing their countries at the Venice Biennale.
