Art Monthly – essential reading every month for more than 30 years.
Nicholas Serota, Director, Tate

Art Monthly is a testing ground for new thinking and has a highly engaged readership; as such, it has been a key place for us to advertise over many years.
Adrian Hunt, Head of Communications, John Hansard Gallery, University of Southampton.

Since its foundation in 1976 Art Monthly has been at the forefront of debates about contemporary art. In its very first issue the artist Carl Andre took on his critics over the ‘Bricks at the Tate’ controversy, while 20 years later in the magazine the term ‘YBA’ appeared for the first time in print. Today Art Monthly has extended its reach to include a monthly radio show as well as offering podcasts of its Talking Art series of interviews with artists in collaboration with Tate Modern and its Roadshow panel discussions in partnership with galleries ranging from the Whitechapel Gallery in London to the Ikon in Birmingham and Manchester’s Cornerhouse. Art Monthly regularly covers cultural policy as well as national and international exhibitions, biennales and events while maintaining a commitment to covering regional museums and galleries.
